Choral Workshop
Adjudicator for Choral Workshop Day for Developing Choirs – Secondary
Jim Sparks is director of vocal music at the Langley Fine Arts School in Fort Langley, BC, where he directs choirs and vocal ensembles, and co-teaches the music major program. With a Bachelor of Music from U.B.C. and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona, Jim has spent 25 years developing young singers in the BC communities of Kamloops, Abbotsford, and Langley. He has adjudicated and been a guest conductor across Canada and the United States.
In 2005, Jim helped establish Project Kenya Sister Schools, a cultural exchange program that puts Kenyan children in schools. Jim has recently returned from the PKSS project in Nairobi, Kenya where he was with the Kenyan National Boys Choir and the Mungano National Choir.
Jim has been on the faculty of the BCCF Choral Directorship Program and most recently, the University of British Columbia.
