Applying for a Criminal Record Check

We are thankful for your service to Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals. Our programs continue to help children and families develop excellence in music education, and we could not offer the programs that we do without our incredible volunteers. Thank you so much for raising your hand to help your community!

The safety and security of our children is, obviously, of utmost importance. For this reason, our policy requires that every volunteer (12 years and older) who works in any capacity with children must have a Criminal Record Check completed and on file with our office.

This will be completed free of charge, and can be done online. It is much simpler to complete if you have the BC Services Card app.

Make sure you select the “Request a New Criminal Record Check” button. You will then be directed to provide your personal information. Once you have submitted your application, Vancovuer Kiwanis Music Festivals will be sent a confirmation.

We will maintain our Criminal Record Check files in the church office, in a secure location. Criminal Record Checks remain valid for three years.

Criminal Record Check Instructions

To be eligible to complete an online criminal record check, you must:

  • be at least 12 years old

  • have a BC Services Card and have it connected to your BC Services Card app

How to apply for a Criminal Record Check:

  1. Go to the link: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/criminalrecordcheck

  2. Read the information provided. Enter the ACCESS CODE: 6PAKV6431T

  3. Confirm the organization is Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals and click continue

  4. Click Login with a BC Services Card

  5. Verify your identity using the BC Services Card app

    • If this is your first time using the BC Services Card app, click Get set up and follow the instructions to register your BC Services Card on the app.

    • If you have used the BC Services Card app before, continue by clicking BC Services Card app

  6. Follow the instructions to complete the process.

    If your Criminal Record Check application has succeeded, you will be shown a receipt of your application. Please print and retain the receipt for your own records. Your Criminal Records Review Program is now in progress and the result will be sent directly to Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals once completed.

    If your Criminal Record Check application failed, you can contact the festival office at volunteer@vkmfestivals.org and you will be given instructions to complete a physical copy of the Criminal Record Check.

Please complete your criminal record check application as soon as possible, as it can take several weeks to process.
